REPAR'S MISSION
If you are already familiar with our mission, you may click here to complete a membership application.
THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THE COMPETITIONS FOR 2007-2008 IS TO ENCOURAGE collaborations: 1) BETWEEN RESEARCHERS FROM DIFFERENT DISCIPLINES AND INSTITUTIONS; 2) BETWEEN RESEARCHERS AND CLINICIANS, AND 3) BETWEEN REPAR MEMBERS AND NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL RESEARCHERS. THESE TYPES OF COLLABORATIONS ARE WHAT IS MEANT BY NETWORKING ACTIVITIES. IT IS REPAR'S PURPOSE AND FUNCTION TO DEVELOP ACTIVITIES SUCH AS THESE. REPAR'S MISSION IS TO CONTRIBUTE TOWARD REDUCING OR COMPENSATING FOR IMPAIRMENTS, DISABILITIES AND HANDICAP SITUATIONS EXPERIENCED BY PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES RESULTING FROM MUSCULOSKELETAL, NEUROLOGICAL OR SENSORY IMPAIRMENTs THROUGH BASIC, CLINICAL, EVALUATIVE AND EPIDEMIOLOGICAL RESEARCH. REPAR IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR FUNDING AGENCIES and ITS POLICY is TO SUPPORT NEW INITIATIVES, NOT RENEWALS OR CONTINUATIONS OF EXISTING PROJECTS. REPAR'S PROGRAMS ARE INTENDED AS A TOOL FOR ESTABLISHING LONG-TERM COLLABORATIONS LEADING SUBSEQUENTLY TO OBTAINING FUNDING FROM VARIOUS SOURCES. THEREFORE, YOU WILL BE ASKED TO EXPLAIN THE OVERLAP OR LACK OF OVERLAP BETWEEN THE APPLICATION SUBMITTED AND APPLICATIONS WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL PREVIOUSLY, EITHER FROM REPAR OR OTHER FUNDING AGENCIES.
Evaluation of applications
Projects are evaluated by three members of REPAR's Scientific Council (SC) or by full-board committees mandated by the SC and chaired by SC members. The members evaluate the following three criteria: relevance, networking and scientific merit. The three marks are added to give an overall mark. An application with too low a mark for scientific merit will be turned down. The scientific merit mark is used to break a tie between two applications, if necessary.
Relevance: applicants are encouraged to read each program's instructions carefully to ensure that their project's objectives and methodology match those of each program.
National and international networking: evaluation of networking is based on criteria such as the diversity and complementarity of the disciplines or the research methodologies used to carry out the clinical research project or structuring activities, or to develop a technological platform. The authors' affiliations with different research centres will also be evaluated. Thus, networking will be evaluated by the number of disciplines and centres involved in the project and by the complementarity of the roles and contributions of each applicant. Therefore, it is essential to describe the specific role of each applicant and indicate the degree of affiliation to the centre named by the researcher.
Scientific merit is evaluated according to criteria established by the FRSQ.
Only researchers and clinicians members of the REPAR can submit an application to one of the programs. Researchers that are not members but whish to send an application must complete an adhesion form available on the website before december 2007. IRRESPECTIVE OF THE PROGRAM, A RESEARCHER OR CLINICIAN MAY SUBMIT ONLY ONE APPLICATION AS PRINCIPAL RESEARCHER FOR A GIVEN DEADLINE. However, it is possible to present simultaneously an application for the program 5 (Integration of post-doctoral candidates)
